Important information

Be prepared

Hopefully we’ll have lovely fair weather for your trip. However, this is the west coast of Scotland and it might rain. Keep in mind that even on a warm day, it can be much cooler on the water than on land, particularly if there’s any wind. Please bring plenty warm and waterproof clothing, including waterproof footwear. Bear in mind that fishing for certain fish can be messy so wear suitable clothes.

Please also bring your own food and drink and anything else you might need during your trip. Sunscreen and sunglasses are advisable as there can be a strong glare off the water.

If you’re prone to seasickness or new to being at sea, it’s a good idea to bring seasickness tablets or take some before boarding the boat. (You can get these over the counter in any chemist and your pharmacist can advise you.)

There’s a toilet onboard the boat and also toilets at the marina cafe, where we depart.

When you arrive

Please arrive at least fifteen minutes before your departure time. When you arrive, please wait by the cafe in the marina, where your skipper will meet you. You can also use the toilets there.

Children and animals

Young persons between the ages of 5 and 16 are welcome aboard as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Prices for children are the same as for adults. We will need to know the weight of the child in advance (in kilograms) to ensure we can provide an appropriate life jacket for them – you can provide this information when making your booking.

Animals are not permitted on board unless you have made a group booking or booked a bespoke trip such that you have the whole boat to yourselves.

Equipment hire

Rod hire is available – please call to discuss.

Terms and conditions

Fishing trips should be booked in advance with payment made in cash upon arrival. All bookings are non-refundable. If you don’t turn up for the trip or cancel your booking, your card will be charged. On your card statement, this will appear as ‘The Boat House Guest House’.

We will sail in all suitable weathers, rain or shine. We may have to cancel a trip in the case of unsuitable sailing conditions, if a particular trip does not receive sufficient bookings, or in the rare events of technical problems or crew illness. We would then try to book you at another time. If this was not possible, then we would, of course, give you a full refund.
